Nutrition is of great importance to us; as our school remains committed to partnering with food suppliers that source healthy options for our students. We proudly offer two incredible food programs at our school: Morning Snack Program and The Lunch Mom Hot Lunch Program.
morning snack program
At William Burgess, the morning snack program is funded by the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS), company donations and parent contributions of $10 per month per student. Students can participate in the program and receive a snack regardless of their ability to pay; there is always a snack available!
In operation since April 2009, the foods made available to students consist of THREE food groups and served FIVE days a week. The menu varies daily, however, a good example of a typical snack would be an apple, cheese & pita bread (have a look at our Sample Menu). The snacks are delivered to each classroom prior to 9am and students are always welcome to save their morning snack for later in day. Overall, our morning snack program strives to be environmentally-friendly and recycle as much as possible.
